Mastercard has launched its Mastercard Crypto Credential, which enables blockchain transactions between corridors in Latin America and Europe. This initiative was announced in 2023 at the Consensus conference and is marked as its first real-world application with P2P (pilot-to-pilot) transactions. Additionally, the Crypto Credential strives to simplify and verify interactions between blockchains, allowing users to send and receive crypto using aliases instead of complex addresses. The service is available on Bit2Me, Lirium, and Mercado Bitcoin exchanges, supporting cross-border and domestic currency transfers.
